What are my options if i want to replace my optical drive on my 2 year old Inspiron 6000. On the Dell website, they have refurbished drives for like $150 a pop. Would any slim line drives from Newegg or something fit?

Yes, any slim drive on NewEgg will work. The only problem is you have to switch bezel (faceplate) to make it nice.
