    Hello,

I'm curious if there's a site to let me know what processors would be compatible for my Lenovo T400, it currently has a T5670 and I was thinking of changing to a P8600, would this be a worthwhile performance upgrade? Thanks in advance

The P8600 would offer a significant performance boost, including increased battery life. VT support will also allow use of XP Mode in Windows 7 Ultimate or Professional.

However, I don't think you can go from an 800Mhz CPU FSB to an 1066Mhz CPU FSB without changing the motherboard. (And as far as I know, the CPU's FSB won't clock down like RAM memory modules do).

    Good luck.

I didn't even know the T400 could support the T5670... but the Thinkpad T400 should have no problems with the P8x00 series, P9x00 series, and T9x00 series. It will not support the X9x00 series, and I haven't seen it with the T6x00 series (but I'd guess that it'd work).

Hard to say whether it's "worthwhile" without knowing what you're paying for a P8600 ;)
