Hi.
I've seen on asus forum 2 Sandy bridge laptops, but one is to big (17") and both are to expensive.
Are there any cheaper models (around 1000 Euros = 1332 U.S. dollars) and if there are when will they be released?
Thanks
EDIT: 15" models

what size are you looking for?

Just edited my post.

lol cheap and SB laptops do not mix at first. You pay an arm and a leg for being an early adopter.

Intel says only quad-cores will be released at first, so you may have to wait until February/March for cheaper dual-core laptops. Or longer: current generation i5's came out three months after i7's.

There was a fairly cheap ($1150) 17" HP machine that some people here got their hands on, but we don't really know the details on most models yet (I haven't seen 15" ones except for an ASUS that starts at $1300). Wait for CES next week; I'm sure some of the Sandy Bridge machines revealed there will be cheaper than 1000 euro.

lol fairly cheap? My dad paid 1500 for a Inspiron 6000 with Pentium M, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD.
I was surprised it wasn't that expensive is the better term. Considering it's only an mid range notebook....one with 560M I would assume 1400-1700. -
Yeah, the $1150 I paid isn't considered cheap anymore. (I paid the same for the Gateway FX a week ahead of release date too, two years ago..)

Wait to see the Inspiron 15R SB refresh pricing. They tend to be the cheapest new systems.

They already announced N5010 SB refresh? I haven't seen any links, and Google is not helpful having Sandy Bridge in the search field right now. -
quad core expensive? the i7 duel core is the same as the quad core in price....the lowend quad is the best bang for your buck. its like 370ish

I'm in the same boat...subscribed!

No. He is just saying to wait for Sandy Bridge to reach the Inspiron 15. Unfortunately, the Inspiron 15R (the Core i version) came out 6 months after Core i's laptop release. They are still selling Core 2 Inspiron 15's as well.
Either way you slice it, you are not going to get a cheap Sandy Bridge system for some time now. I'm saying at least several months, maybe even 6 until they drop into the low-mid price range. -

Err there is a non Core i version of the N5010 (Inspiron 15R)? Inspiron 15 is the base model replacing the old Inspiron 15xx series. I only see Celeron and Pentium Dual Core Inspiron 15s.
Oh I know there are going to be no cheapo SB notebooks. They sell the performance ones first to make boat loads of money then eventually phase in the mainstream models. -
I dont know how much will cost but it's base configuration suggest that should be not very expensive. Here you have link to polish review of 4 Sb laptops including mentioned Acer Aspire 5750: Google Translate.

What is the average price when you say something is 'cheap'
-
when i think cheap i think of bang for your buck or low end....at least thats what i think when i hear that.
-
Inspiron 15 = Inspiron 1545. They are both names for the same laptop that came out Jan 09. Come on, Celeron + Pentium Dual core is Core 2 of a different name, and have they gotten rid of the Core 2 options in them now? They had them until very recently.
-
Asus is releasing a Sandy Bridge, 15 inch, for around $1400.
I'll post the link, when I find it. -

Is the Inspiron 15 based off the 1545? Looks to me different body style. For couple months now Dell has offered base Inspiron 15 with absolutely no upgrade options. I also misread, I thought you typed Core 2 Duo lol. They only offer Celeron 900 and PDC T4300 on base Inspiron 15.
In any case I won't be buying an N5010...horrible that you have to remove the palmrest to get to the hard drive. And 15R isn't that cheap either, it can get pricey with options. -
I wouldn't call that "cheap." So far I've only found one notebook that's currently available for sale, the HP Dv7: Walmart.com: HP Pavilion Argento Brushed Aluminum Finish dv7-4290us 17.3" Widescreen Laptop PC with Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor, Blu-ray Drive and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit): Computers
$1098 for: i7 2630qm, 6gb DDR3, Ati Mobility Radeon 6570 w/ 1gb GDDR5, BluRay, 1TB HDD
That seems like a decent price to me. I'd probably buy it if it wasn't 17.3". -
thats a great deal 1100...nice!..wish it was 15inch though...sigh res sucks though.....i wouldn't touch it for that reason
-
Holy moly you're right! When did this happen? Unless I'm going crazy, it was very recently.

Hrmm...adunno we sell the Inspiron 14 at work, exactly same body style as Inspiron 15, just 14 inch vs 15. I don't like how Dell offers no upgrades, but I guess they figure that people don't buy them for the entry entry level. We have yet to see what Intel is offering SB for the entry level...probably still the older Core 2 architecture. Wiki only has specs of an unknown SB Celeron.. -
Well, we still need Core i low end computers to fully replace Core 2. I guess this way Intel makes a lot more money. They just run the old manufacturing lines longer.
-
Daym that's not really that bad of a deal at all...the res does suck, but if I'm planning on using it with an external monitor half of the time with higher res for gaming and movie watching, that should probably be ok, right?
my old laptop is 1366x768 so this 1600x900 should be about the same as far as the size of the stuff on the screen...
anyone know of a better deal then this if I'm willing to go to 17" (would prefer 15)?
edit: Daym, I really wanted at least 1 usb 3.0 port
i'll have to rethink long and hard about this one...i'm sure at this price, it'll push down the other SB laptops though...
