Haven't seen many links to 1x4GB memory. And the specs claim it's Apple memory too. In any case, like you other thread what laptop do you have? I believe only the latest Montevina platform officially supports 4GB DIMMs.

Okay, false warning it is (my ignorance of thinking Apple as OEM would be okay in Dell).
I'm purchasing a Dell E6500 but buying 8GB from them adds over $1000 to the laptop. Is there any alternative to this?

Dell sells a 4GB module for the E6500, priced at $388. -

Well, Apple memory is really no different from any other memory. They are just validate to ensure compatibility with Macs.
I'm not sure what to recommend about your first link though. It's a great price, but the picture shows a very strange chip layout so I'm not sure what to make of it. You could probably call them and ask.
Cheap 4GB stick, or just false warning?
