    Right, I need some advice.
    my parents laptop harddrive is working at around .2mb/s and is filled with bad blocks

    so I figure ill have to get them a new one anyone can suggest an ultra cheap hard drive?
    ATA/100 more than 10gb+

    Does it have to be 100gb+? What is the capacity of your parent's HD now?

    Samsung hard disks are good value for money. You can pretty much buy anybrand (Western Digital, Seagate, Samsung, Hitatchi or Fujitsu) just look for something that is on sale and get 5400 rpm and not 4200.

    40GB is the smallest still for sale i think. I would go for 80GB they are only a few bucks more expensive.

    thanks, ill give it a butchers at newegg later today

    (their old hard drive was 40gb but they used less than 6gb of it)
