    Hey,
What kind of HD would be the best, compatibility and price-wise for a Thinkpad R50? Any suggestions?

Compatibility shouldn't be an issue. I like Hitachi and Seagate.

As far as 7200rpm drives I believe that that Hitachi (Sata at least) seems to be a slightly faster drive. If it's non sata I believe that Hitachi is only very slightly faster in benchmarks.

Seagates are quieter and produce slightly less heat.

The seagates tend to be slightly more expensive.

I agree with Zaz though. I like and would suggest one of those two brands

Since the R50 uses the Dothan Pentium M, it does not support SATA drives.

Ahh, this being the case my personal selection would have to side with Seagate. Thanks ZaZ

So would it take an ATA-100 or something like that? And what's the difference between an ATA100 and an ATA300? (I don't know much about HD replacement :)
