I've been wondering - is it normal for chicklet-style scissor switches to become more "noisy" after extended use? Say, develop a click or something? (like a mechanical keyboard or subtle mouse click) Asking since on both my current and last laptop, after about a year of use, my W key (which is used a lot in games as "forward") become oddly clicky - especially when being pressed at the top end. Asking if that's something normal or if I should be trying to figure out what's up with it. Mind you, it doesn't always produce clicking noises, but randomly. Sometimes it's silent, other times it clicks - the key is attached properly, haven't noticed anything loose, actuation pressure is the same as other keys (tested with 30-35g weights) - so I'm at a loss when trying to explain it. Does the switch "loosen" and re-adjust itself randomly? Any insight is welcome.
Also, to those saying to themselves "This guy is paranoid" - Damn right I am![]()

If it's the most used key; then most likely the one you'll notice nuances with it. Nothing is made bulletproof anymore; everything will eventually fail.
