I wonder if I want to buy a basic type of USB bluetooth adapter for my laptop( it has no built in!), which brand will be better? I saw so many designs and sizes from different companies, all having same basic function and I don,t know which brand/ company I should choose. I expect all to be of almost same standard. Is it so?

Adapters made by TrendNet, IOGear, Kensington and Toshiba are all quite good and reliable. Although, I would think Linksys and Kensington make the better models.

Are you in the US? If you check Newegg Zonet products are the highest rated and at very nice prices.

I got the v.1.2 100M one. (I don't need v.2.0) It uses the widcom chip and is VERY good. It cost me $25 - $10 rebate, which came in the mail yesterday, only 4 weeks after sending it in ... WOW!

By the way, most of those manufacturers just use some chip provided by another company. Widcom is one of the most used. So brand really makes no difference. And the drivers are generic (made by widcom)

I have a D-Link DBT-120. It's been very reliable and easy to use. I use it to connect my Nokia cell phone to my computer to transfer files all the time. I bought it from CompUSA for $9.99 after rebate.
