Sorry for being an ignorant but I investigated over the internet and couldnt find an answer.
the question is:
Will the current core i7 laptops handle the upcoming Arrandale processors?
I really want to get a core i7 laptop like the studio 15, but 32nm and lower TDPs are also interesting!. I dont really need 6+ mb of L3 cache and I would be fine with the 4mb L3 cache of the Arrandale processors.
My dream would be like getting the studio 15 core i7 and upgrade to a lower TDP core i7 Arrandale processor.
Thanks in advance and sorry again for my tremendous ignorance!.

Any news on the PM57, HM55/57 and QM55/57 chipsets?

I wonder how the mobile parts get translated... (since you don't need 14 USB ports, 8 PCIe slots or 6 SATA ports)
-
I think that last fudzilla article screwed up; Lynnfield is not a notebook chip, that should be Clarksfield, not Lynnfield that PM55 supports.
-
What I wonder if the Arrandale is just like plug and play. Sure the PM55 B3 might recognize it, but the IGP? How would that work if going from Clarksfield to Arrandale?
-
I thought I read before that Arrandale is going to need a new motherboard to support the IGP (like HM55 or QM55).
-
That is what I am fearing....
-
It's possible, just possible, that the PM55 already comes with the necessary hardware to support the IGP, and that it's just unused in the current boards. I'm not sure anyone not from Intel or designing notebooks around the new Arrandales already knows, though. Even if not, you can probably just plug in an Arrandale and use it, you just won't be able to use the IGP.

The thing about Arrandale IS the GPU...if not Clarksfield will still dominate Arrandale.
