What is the best way to clean your LCD screen for your notebook. I saw some wipes advertised to do the job, but was not sure about them. Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on what screen you have. If you have a matte, the wipes will be fine. If you have a glossy, you might want to look at getting a cloth instead since the wipes normally leave streak marks.

Personally, i like using the wipes to clean off all the finger prints. Then go back over with a cloth to get any residue that might be left over as well as daily dust that gathers on my screen.

Windex and a paper towel.... high tech man! Clean your keyboard also, as it transfers all the grease from your fingers to the screen in the first place.

DON'T USE WINDEX!!! i cannot say that enough. It is terrible for LCD's. You have no idea how many people try to return things to the company i work for after they have windexed their screen.

Most types of Windex have Ammonia in them. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen Ammonia-free Windex for sale for some time.

Ammonia WILL destroy your screen. It will yellow it and completely strip any anti-glare coating off of it(which even the matte screens have).

Alcohol is fine for the glossy screens. Matte, you want alcohol that's very diluted.

I got a microfiber cloth from the eyeglass department at a store. Works wonderfull for me. It takes almost everything off without any solution at all. Cost 2 or 3 dollars I think.

We don't have the luxury of fancy cleaners at our remote work sites so windex with ammonia, if we have it , works just fine. Unlike other posters we have NEVER seen yellowing, hazing or other damage to these screens. What we have seen is damage to the screen by excessive fluids running into back lights or using matterials with grit or other scratching the screens.

Whatever, this is not any recomendation that anyone use windex but I had to laugh when one secretary asked how come windex does not yellow, crack or mess up the clear plastic bottle it comes in..roll eyes..
