First, allow me to give you the current state of my Primary drive...the SSD in my sig. It is 60% full...and has Windows 7, Battlefield 3 and Norton Internet Security 2012 on it. I am experiencing some difficulties (please see this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...critical-boot-files-secondary-drive-help.html ) that may lead me down the path of having to do a clean install of Windows. Here is my question...given the fact that I would be REWRITING around 70GB worth of data onto the SSD...wouldn't this be detrimental to the overall long term health of the drive?? I have barely used this laptop and want to avoid having to do this install if at all possible...but not being very savvy in repairing boot files in Windows..it may be my only option...(again refer to the above thread for details...).....thanks again for all your advice!

Writing as general won't be a problem for SSD, especially for such a small amount of only 70Gb.
I have been writing 5GB to 10GB of data almost EVERYDAY for half a year now since I bought my M4, and SSDpro tells me the SSD health is still at 100%. To further prove this, I did some benchmarks through crystaldiskmark, the results are almost identical to the benchmarks I did when I first got it. -
I not sure you need a clean install as you said in the other post you have a repair Disc,
1. pull your HDD out
2. boot from CD somehow
3. Somekind of repair option and your MBR should be back
Use this
Startup Repair - Windows 7 Forums
Use this if you can do easy cmd
MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record - Windows 7 Forums
70GB is nothing on the life of a SSD -
