Hi,
I bought a clevo barebone laptop, bought 2.5 hdd, intel core 2 duo 5450 cpu, ddr2 mobile ram, and assembled the laptop.
after i turn it on - pressing the "the power button", the lights appear on and in 2-3 secs off. NOthing on the screen, no beeps or anything, the cooler is also not working.
Also, when i turn the laptop on - the hdd lights on laptp panel are off.... which i think means that hdd is not connected.....
Any ideas.....

It sounds like a connection issue, memory failure or maybe a cpu issue.
The cpu issue is what I want to state first since its a common problem alot of people forget.
When you install the processor, you need to turn the screw on the socket to the locked position. If that is not done the system will try to turn on and fail as you mentioned in your post.
You should check that the cpu is in the locked position.
Their could be a memory failure, and wouldnt shock me if their was. Memory today sure isnt made like it used to be. The small memory cells are barely even connected to the PCB, so minimum pressure to the card can detach a memory lead. Back in the DDR era the memory cells were larger and had say 50 or so small solder connections to the PCB. Well what I am stating is, a memory card could have been damaged in the shipping process or from static electricity. So to test, try powering the system on with one card at a time, and try different combinations. Hopefully it is just a memory thing
The connection issues, well the machine could not power up if say an extra wireless antenna was loose in you system, shorting the board, touchpad/keyboard not connected, system power board not connected and so forth. Check all connections and make sure everything is seated properly and connected.
Good luck,

Ok, just an update. as i see, when connecting the HDD, the ide is plugged in. But the power connector (as i see that) is not connected to anything... i assume there should be some "special case" where you put the hdd first, and then insert all this into the laptop. hovewer the barebone and hdd came without anything like that...
