Just curious what options do I have regarding processors in the Clevo M860TU? Currently have an Intel Core Duo T9400 2.53Ghz.

I looked around and found out that this laptop model does support Quad Core (if it was shipped after the processor & GFX upgrade, which mine was).

But can't find a lot of info about what the best compatible processors for this model are and what it can handle.

The best C2Q for Penryn is the Q9000 and the Q9000 is still a decent processor in terms of power for this generation's applications, albeit it is starting to show a bit of age. I think that is the best choice for you if you want to go Quad.

Would you say it's worth upgrading to it from the T9400?

There are some Q9200 with unlocked multiplier on eBay available. Also some cheap QX9300.
They are a better choice than a Q9000.

quads may not be compatible with your model... There are a few mobo revisions and the early ones don't support quads.

Yes, you socket should be pink not purple, and your RAM slots should be black not white.

Pretty sure about this. And yes, you're right about the graphics upgrade if it came with the gtx 260m then it will probably support quads.

The q9200 is the only one worth it. q9100 and q9000 will probably be too slow for single threads unless you do a hardmod to overclock to 2.8ghz or so. q9200 can be overclocked no problem.

Is there much advantage to getting a QX9300 over a QX9200?
