I finally just received my laptop back from Kobalt Computers, see here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/res...alt-computers-officially-out-business-31.html

I originally sent it to them to repair damage to it's hinges and the surrounding affected components. They included some replacement components when they sent it back as well.

I now intend to get it fixed locally but I'm trying to get all the replacement components that would be needed for the repair beforehand (to save money).

So I was hoping if you could help me identify or give the proper name for the thin black cable that you can see in the attachment below. I believe that it's the same cable that connects to the NIC (which would explain why my wireless signal strength has significantly reduced) but I'm not sure.

that would be a usb cable for the webcam, the single wire is just a piece of coax for wifi/BT/WAN

So if I was looking to replace that piece of coax would I just describe it as being the coaxial cable for the wifi?

Yes, it is just easier to buy a whole WLAN antennae set on Ebay. It's like 4 dollars. I did it for my brother's M5030 as it was only a 1x1, and had very very poor signal. Took about 5 minutes rerouting all the WLAN cables through the display bezel.

Can you recommend an antenna set that would work best with my laptop model?

Seen ones on ebay but according to their listings they are for specific Sony Vaio, Dell, Apple etc models (couldn't find any for Clevo or Sager). Or does the model not really matter for this kind of cable?
