    Hey guys,

Got a problem with the offboard of the SATA slots on my Clevo P170EM (the one on the connector board with ref number 6-71-P17SJ-D01B). The DVD-slot works fine, but the HD slot does not detect any drive. I attempted re-seating it, visually inspecting all connector, all looks good visually. Drive is working fine (tested it on another port).

Now, I had to get new BIOS chips on the mobo due to a bad flash and the mobo was flashed with the BIOS for a P50EM. Although the mobo is the same for both models, are the connector boards the same? Could the problem be a result of having the wrong BIOS? any ideas?

I wanted to confirm that this could be a possibility before attempting to flash the chips with the correct BIOS, don't want to risk bricking it...

    Thanks!
    Jorge

    Hi all,

Found the solution, maybe it will help someone else.

As I suspected, the issue was that although the motherboards are the same for both the P150EM and P170EM, the SATA connector board is not and thus the BIOSses differ. A simple flash with the latest P170EM BIOS solved the problem and all SATA slots are working.

    Cheers
