What's up NBR?
As the title says, this is interesting me to no end. I want to find out if it works.
Does anyone have specs for the N173HHE-G32 from Chi Mei? Generally size and mounting orientation information? See, it's not 25ms like the AUO 1080p screen, it *IS* 8-bit colour and gsync for those who prefer it, with 75%+ Adobe RGB without calibration and possibly more with calibration. It doesn't have the banding issue that the AUO B173QTN01.0 has, and has better colours by a good deal.
So, can this panel slot in? Does anyone know if the lid on the GT73VR is the same as the GT72 (which has a lid that can fit the B173HAN01.2, B173QTN01.0, B173ZAN01.0, and LP173WF4-SPD1/-SPF1) which would mean it's essentially hot swappable?
And is anyone willing to try and find a Chi Mei panel to try swapping it in/out?
The P775DM, P775DM1 and P870DM also should be capable of fitting the panels the P775DM2, P775DM3, P870DM2 and P870DM3 can handle, so if you have one of those and are willing to test, that'd be awesome.

I can give it a shot, if you can find me a good source to buy one from.
AFA the mounting holes go, they seem pretty similar. -
But I don't know how reliable it is. I've seen a couple other places that show it as "discontinued" which is basically impossible; they're probably just not selling to places other than MSI much.
http://ubbcentral.com/store/item/N1...3-FHD-Laptop-Display-1080P-_191978695059.html is also sketchy.
And finally, plain old ebay that's expensive: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/N173HHE-G...r-17-3-FHD-Laptop-Display-1080P-/191978695059Void364 likes this. -

I was also thinking in upgrading my current 60 Hz 25ms FHD panel to a 120 Hz 5ms FHD panel and N173HHE-G32 seems to be the only option. How does G-Sync actually works? Would G-Sync work with this panel in a Clevo machine? Or there is a list in the G-Sync license implemented in the VGA and with a Clevo VGA G-Sync option would not be enabled ?

I would assume, until then, that you won't have access to Gsync. -
At least my upgrade will depend on if my laptop will be found or not. -

Hello, just signed up for this, I recently bought a P870DM3 with the terrible FHD screen, not only ghosting is the issue but backlight viewing angles are bad and worse than any other TN displays.
If that screen use 40pin, any idea where to get the cable?
Thanks. -

I currently have the B173HAN01.2 and it is indeed 30pin, checked it by disassembly. -

Sorry corrected, its v1.2 and no gsync

I want the Chi Mei. I'ma ask Eurocom if they have it and would put it in as a special order xDVoid364 likes this. -
But the question still remains with the N173HHE-G32 will G-Sync work with a Clevo laptop? Is there a list for accepted screens in the Clevo BIOS/vBIOS or the BIOS only has the license for the NVidia driver and the list of accepted screens is in the NVidia driver itself ?
Not to mention will even the system BIOS recognize the screen and if it does, will it even allow 120 Hz to be enabled ?
Too many questions ...
@ D2 Ultima I don't wish to ruin Eurocom's business but it would be cheaper to just grab it off Ebay, Eurocom would ask more than double of the Ebay price. A guy in Texas have 10 screens for sale. But need to check first if that is an original screen or a Chinese "compatible" copy.
I myself would buy one for science and stuff, but as of now there is no telling what will happen to my P775DM3-G so I can not jump into purchases like this ...Last edited: Jan 21, 2017Void364 likes this. -
Also compatible with some edp to dp converters. -
Remember, for Gsync to work on an internal LCD, you need three components:
The BIOS must be gsync capable.
The LCD must be gsync capable.
The GPU must be gsync with it containing the device id of the installed gsync LCD.
If one of these components is missing, you'll still have a working internal display. It just won't be able to use gsync within the OS.Void364 likes this. -
I personally don't care about having g-sync or not at this point, looking for the alternative for this inappropriate display.
I would go with the 1440p display, but i'm afraid the green banding will be kinda visible in gray shades, plus 1080p is already perfect for 17 inch and equivalent at the same distance of a 28 inch 4k screen in pixel size. Don't want to use windows scaling. -
I think at 17" on a laptop, choosing between a FHD and QHD is subjective, and someone should choose what they feel is best. In regards to the banding in the QHD, that issue may be a bit overblown. For example, IIRC @Phoenix had nothing but high praise for his QHD display.
Now QFHD at 17"... I think at this point in time with current scaling technology, it would best be left to those who have the eyes of an eagle or hawk.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Didn't say QHD isn't appropriate for 17 inch, and didn't generalize. Just prefer to get that screen with the better quality over the extra pixels which is overall respectable at 17 inch (on this specific laptop..), I would argue if it were 24-28 inch display though. -
It also has bad response times for a TN panel; 10ms average for B2W (outside of 120Hz range) and ~29ms average for G2G, and PWM has been detected on one panel that NBC analyzed. All in all, it's a screen I don't want. I'd rather take a ghosting screen that has great colours and no banding and everything, however I still would rather a screen with good colours and little to no ghosting =DVoid364 likes this. -

Got super busy with work, and forgot to order. Then "accidentally" ordered a DM2/KM1 , waiting on that nowLast edited: Jan 31, 2017TomJGX and alexhawker like this. -

Do yourself a favor, try and take a look at the display panel on the ASUS ROG G701VI-XS72K.
The panel is a 17.3", 1920 x 1080 120hz G-Sync screen that differs from the Chi Mei N173HHE-G32 because it also happens to be IPS.
The problem is I can't find the model # for the panel, nor can I find any specs on the response time or color gamut. I'm assuming that it would be just like the Chi Mei, but with worse response time but better colors, contrast and viewing angles from being IPS.
Worth a look see. -

Could be a typo/mistake, i'll try and dig around to see if LG makes anything like that. Asus' website is crap for looking for specs. -
@Prema you have any idea what panel this could be?
Also, ASUS doesn't know a single thing about their laptops unless you have a serial number. I'm not even kidding. -

@Donald@HIDevolution do you think you can tell me what panel this is? The ASUS 120Hz 1080p 17" LG one that is gsync? -
