I bought a Sager beast, talked about it in another post. When it got here I went to upgrade the RAM. None of my sticks will work (they're SK Hynix 2400mhz dimms) it shipped with a Samsung 8GB 2400Mhz dimm, that one only works in one of the slots. Basically I can't boot the system unless I keep the single 8 gig stick it came with from gentechpc in the exact spot it came in. I've tried using SK hynix modules. I even bought the exact same model of dimm on eBay. I cannot get it to boot with more than one stick, let alone any other slot but slot 3.

Have you talked to Sager regarding it? Might be a hardware fault or in need of a BIOS update! Talk to Sager and in case they can't fix it, RMA and request a new unit!

I called Sager, they didn't think it was a problem, GenTechPC told me to buy new ram and see if that worked... So I'm pretty frustrated.

It wasn't a problem? Ask to RMA it and request working RAM for your order.. wtf

The dude on the phone at sager said "We shipped it without ram, so you need to talk to gentechpc" and that it "wasn't their problem". I ended up buying another kit, a Corsair 2400mhz 2x8 kit. I found in CPUz the laptop actually does define "Slot 3" as slot 0, which is good news and may mean it only boots from when something is inserted into said slot. I'm not beyond believing it won't boot with SK Hynix Dimms, the Samsung dimm I bought was from a used Dell according to the seller. So I'm not putting it past them if it does not work. The Samsung DIMM it shipped with is an M471A1K43BB1-CRC, the one I bought was a M471A1K43CB1-CRC. So this is certainly an interesting situation. And now I have a total of 40GB of SO-DIMMs doing nothing, so that's fun....

When you say "it doesn't boot" are you aware ram training takes some time and the system may reboot itself multiple times before it is able to successfully POST

yes i am aware. Nothing happens, it eventually shuts itself off, the keyboard lights up, the hdd light blinks repeatedly. and after about a minute it shuts itself off.

Sounds like an issue with the sticks to be fair if new ram is working.

The new ram is not working, I ordered new stick online's that have not come yet. But none of my hynix nor used Samsung modules are working, I think it's very unlikely these new sticks will work.

Re-seat your CPU, might be not making good contact on the socket, or you have a bent pin in the socket..

To be fair, that would be reasons for RMA..

If the seller is denying RMA, thats a crappy seller..

Probability is extremely low, but could always be a QVL issue with your pre-existing sticks.

Try your old sticks individually in the singular socket that worked with your included Samsung stick

If none of your old sticks work

Do a CMOS power reset and cycle your old sticks individually again through the single slot known to be working
ending with the included Samsung stick that shipped with your system.

My brother has a Dell 7577 or something like that, I pulled the stick, was a Micron 2400 MHz stick. It worked in that slot where where the Samsung it shipped with came in. No other ram besides the stick it shipped with or that will work, as well as in any other slot. I'm done with this absolute trash. Sending it to gentechpc for another one. This is ridiculously retarded. Never had a bad anything out of the box.
