I am starting to think my machine needs more juice than the current 180W brick can provide! Is this normal. I run the 920xm and 6970M OCed so I think the processor will be using 55W + amd gpu 100W+ doesn't take much to max out 180W therefore.
Thinking of going up to a 6-51-X8102-010 PM170HM 220W adaptor that I hope I can simply hot swap the tip from my targus adaptor to as it looks like it uses the same 4 pin connector.
Any thoughts?

NO!!!
If you push it any further you will kill it; the board has very weak vregs. Friendly warning. -

Bad experience?
Surely the board will only take the wattage it needs right. -

Mine fried too but the cause was a metal staple left loose inside by the previous owner lol it was a short out that destroyed a chip and capacitor and damaged a gpu vreg. That was the feedback the motherboard repair company gave.
I haven't dared stress test the cpu since though as that is when it went down... ominous!
Clevo W860CU with 920xm and 6970M in aid of 220W?
