I purchased a Quadro P4200 to install in my Clevo P750DM-G. I believe it comes with the HP vBIOS. I do have a TL866II programmer and can program the vBIOS before installing it in the system if needed, but I'm curious if that will be necessary. I have done several mxm swaps and have no problem with it. The last one I did was a GTX1060 in this same machine.

Advice on this will be appreciated.

    Thank you

I ordered a chip from ebay that supposedly has the Clevo vBIOS for the Quadro p4200. I will post the results here once I get it all soldered up and installed.

I soldered on the vBIOS chip and installed the P4200 into the P750DM, however, when I installed the driver, the screen went blank for 5-10 minutes before coming back on scrambled, but mostly black. I have done this twice now with the same result. If someone can help me acquire a Dell vBIOS or other vBIOS known to work with Clevo, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what to do next here to get this working, any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

This P4200 Dell vBIOS resolved the problem. Drivers are now installed and it's up and running benchmarks now that I will post in a new thread.

I was looking forward to it also. They are up in another thread. Do you know if thermal throttling on the CPU can inhibit GPU scores in the benchmarks? If so, the numbers could go up once I get the shim on the cpu side.

Here is the link to the other thread with benchmarks

    Hello MKazmer,
this is good work. My plan is to build p4200 into zbook 17 G1. I have a problem with the vbios on my card. The chip that I have is a GigaDevice 25Q20BT with clevo bios. Nvflash64 and GPU-Z do not find the Bios. The eeprom ID is unknown to the Nvflash. I managed to apply the dellvbios with the programmer CH341A , but in the end this did not solve the problem.
Have you any idea for this problem?
What do you think about the GigaDevice 25Q20BT?

    Any Pictures with infos.
    Thank you for your answer.

    Hello everyone!
Please help me solve a similar problem with vbios Nvidia Quadro P4200 DAXW3UB5CA0 on my Dell М6800, since the only vbios from techpowerup.com does not work for this video card.
Everything is described in more detail here, so as not to clog the forum

Hello! Most likely the GigaDevice 25Q20BT chip is not supported by the GPU of the video card.
According to the keys, this chip is sealed correctly, try another chip vbios Winbond W25Q40EW = 25Q40EW.
For the first time nvflash, I also did not determine the eeprom due to the fact that I did not correctly solder the chip on according to the keys.

Hello. I also think the winbond chip is the suitible. My results with the vbios are more or less good. I did buy a winbond chip for more tests.
I bought a HP G5 and then it was simple to install the card.
The next problem is, my card is not a max-q architecture. Which architecture the card is was not clear at the moment I bought the card. The max TDP from the G1 is 100 watt and the P4200 standard 115 watt. I was worried about the power supply.
Ok. What can we do? I can send you the vbios from GD Chip. The seller from the chip said this was a HP G5 bios. No idea if that is actually correct.
You can test and I hope I can help you.

    best regards

Thank you very much for trying to help but no luck, again the same blue screen and instant reboot..
Most likely, i will not be able to find a working vBIOS and a miracle will not happen either..think i will have to sell the video card :(

Hi Friend, This v-Bios_GD.zip is a DELL V-Bios 86.04.8A.00.3E is not HP G5 v-bios.. furthermore I want to inform everyone that the Nvidia Quadro P4200 MXM card with EEPROM Winbond W25Q40EW and Dell V-Bios 86.04.8A.00.3E is fully functional in an Alienware 17 R1 Ranger, but in extreme use of the GPU the graphics card slows down because it requires more power from the MXM socket with 115W Dell V-BIOS but I would bet that an Hp V-Bios P4200 would solve the power limitation issue, could someone help me get an HP V-Bios P4200 ?

I hoped that the seller of the video card would help with vBios, but the seller replied that he could not download it..

    I have a different vBIOS for a P4200: 86.04.8B.00.79
I think it's a Clevo or MSI card. TDP Tweaker says it has 125W TDP, but under testing it ran at around 105W.
I am hoping to get a vBIOS with the Max-Q version, as my card runs at 90C under full load and I prefer to keep it lower, at 80C. Performance is not that important to me.

I've attached vBIOS that I have, it's DELL and most likely it's Max-Q

Unpack the attached script to the Nvflash folder, also the ROM file and just run it. Should work.

Hello friend.. DELL vbios version 86.04.8A.00.3E requires 115W of TDP is not MAX-Q, I'm using this vbios on a 2014 Alienware 17 R1 Ranger, and I'm having power problems with this P4200 graphics card due to the MXM socket of my Alienware not being able to deliver above 100W, I've been trying to get a MAX-Q V-Bios from the any Laptop HP Zbook 17 G5 with GPU P4200 for a while but I can't find it anywhere!!

It worked with this version but the system was unstable with the Dell vBIOS.
The card didn't show an exclamation mark and Windows would boot with it, but trying to get any reading from it would lead to a system crash.
I reverted to the card's original vBIOS.

I believe that an HP vBIOS would solve the issue... at least, it is known that this P4200 MXM graphics card with this traditional form factor, was essentially produced for the HP 17 G5, as I have no news of any other laptop model coming factory with this same graphic card!

in the case of my Alienware 17 R1 Ranger 2014, I would only have this output, using a vBIOS MAX-Q on this P4200 GPU because the graphics card does not accept any Core Clock or Undervolt modification with standard software, only if I did it directly in the vBIOS but unofficial... so next it to install in GPU the modified vBIOS to use only 100W TDP, with a SPI programmer, I'm still learning to use, but I don't have these skills to modify vBIOS and reduce TDP... unfortunately... :(

You could ask these guys for the vBIOS: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373327536402?hash=item56ec0e2112:g:6EoAAOSwUHld57Ml
However, as far as I know, the P4200 in the Zbook does not have a vBIOS chip, the vBIOS is embedded in the system BIOS.

Or go on reddit at the Zbook owners thread and ask for a vBIOS dump.
