I need to clone an existing hard drive to a SSD to so I can upgrade parents computer to a SSD. I bought them a Samsung 840 series SSD, but I forgot to buy a SATA-to-USB cable so I could clone their existing drive. I know there's a ton of cables online that I could just order them, but I go back to college Monday, and I need to buy this in one my local stores if I'm able to do this before I go. This is the only sort of thing that looks like it'll work that's in stock in my area. Would I be able to plug in my SSD into this and then run the included software with my Samsung SSD drive to clone the drive? Thanks.

    I second the user's comment.

I have used both Norton ghost 15 and Samsung/Clonix Data migration.

Ghost makes a lot of error codes on certain PCs, breaks the Master boot record etc. You have to make a repair disk to get the system starting.

Clonix is painless, no additional steps are required after you connected the SSD to the laptop's SATA port

Yeah, I didn't use Norton Ghost, I used the migration tool that came with the samsung SSD. It worked perfectly, and I have the SSD installed and running. Also, for anyone that is curious, the harddrive mounting dock that I linked to works really well, and is something that I'll use later if I ever have to recover a drive.

Edit: Ha, and now of course it's $11 cheaper on amazon than what it was earlier today when I had Bestbuy price match it.
