Hi, im buying a new dell inspiron 1520. the tech specs are ready, but i have doubts about wether getting the blue midnight, the jet black or the brown one. I would really apreciate it if someone could upload some real life photos (i hate dell ones).
The other prob is the battery, i know the 9 cell one will last longer, but someone told me that it was very uncomfortable, is it true? again, photos would help a lot.
I live in Colombia, so going to a store to watch laptops like i hear you do is not an option, so the help will come very handy. thanks a lot.

how much more run time would you get with a 9-cell Lithium-Ion Battery compared to a 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery?
i have a dell 1520
thanks -
Umm, on what computer? That question is too broad to answer accurately.
My guess is that it generally adds an additional 50% to battery life. -
someone help

I don't have photos, but I seen them at a kiosk yesterday. The blue is really nice. It's deeper than the blue they show on the website. Looks better in my opinion. Still, I'll probably just order black since it's $20 less.

I can't help you when it comes to the color because I really don't care about something I'll only see for the few seconds before I turn my laptop on, heh. But, you can't really go wrong with black.
Anyways, the 9-cell should just stick out of the back of the laptop by a little over half of an inch. For some it can be very annoying and uncomfortable when you're using it on your lap. It doesn't really bother me at all...
Check out this review! It should help you out a bit with visualizing the battery, but the color is green... -

If you're concerned with battery life I would not hesitate to go for the 9-cell. It will give you about 1/3 more life than the 6-cell since it has 1/3 more cells.

Battery life is also dependent on the mAh rating of the battery so you can't always assume you *will* get 50% more life with the 9-cell.

Chaz it needs to be pointed out when you said 1/3 you meant 4Hrs becomes 6Hrs and that is infact correct all else being equal. As I stated I fall victim to the same thinking as you, it is really a question of are you looking up or down a 50% increase is 1/3 of new total. But always check mAh rating, a 1 cell could beat a 12 cell, and you don't know that tell you check it out. But the rules of thumb still apply! Don't change thinking to soon! -
