In the task manager under performance it shows that i have 1.9GB of memory.

Under physical memory it shows 4062 total, 2762 cached, and 14 free.

What does this mean? Can I free up more memory?

    Unused memory is wasted memory.

The aim of Vista's memory management is to use as much memory as possible in order to enhance performance. It does this by employing the SuperFetch service. Read more on SuperFetch here:

I wouldn't worry about freeing up memory. The OS knows what it's doing. :)

Although 32bit and 64 bits Vista sees the different amount of total RAM on the system according to the official spec , I have seen some PC recognize more RAM after reinstall the OS(same 32 bit).

Some AMD system after the install of the hot fix for the multi cored cpu, the board see more RAM as well. This seems related to the mainboard design.

    Hope this helps!
