Has anyone tried to upgrade the CPU for a Compaq Presario C502US? I tried to go from a Celeron M 440 to a Core Duo T2250 and the though the machine would turn on, the screen would stay black. After asking around the net, it turns out there are compatibility issues with the chipset (CPU-Z says mine is an i945PM/GM/GT/i940GML, I just don't know what to make of that). I don't want to go through the hassle of making the purchases (and returning them if they don't work), so has anyone had success upgrading to either the Pentium Dual Cores or the Core 2 Duo's?

The system is most likely using the i940GML chipset which only supports the Celeron M series processors. Almost all budget notebooks with the Celeron M ship with this chipset. So, an upgrade to Core/Pentium DC is pretty much impossible unless you are willing to spend on a motherboard upgrade.

Thanks for the response. That's the conclusion other people have come to as well, but I want that speedstep so bad I'm bugging everyone to see if they've tried it first hand.
