Can someone help me please. My Compaq Presario C762NR crashes with new 2x1GB DDR2 PC-5300 ram, I did a memory test with memtest on both of them and also one at a time and it passed. I used the Ultimate Boot CD BIOS Tools to wipe my BIOS but still not luck. and now when I put my stock 2x512MB ram back into my laptop it crashes before these never crashed I also did a memory test with memtest and they both passed, I also reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows Vista about 6 time don't know what the problem could be need help ASAP. Thanks in Advanced

Did it make a difference if you install only one of the old memory modules? Where did your BSOD occur? At Windows startup? After logon? ...

Do you think the AE 2x1GB DDR2 PC-5300 modules I have could be defective even though it passed memtest86.

Also do I need to remove the cmos battery from my laptop for 24hrs to erase bios settings and then try the new ram again.

Yes and no. But still it may be an issue of the system not supporting those modules.

I think you might be right, I will contact the ebay seller and ask him or her for a refund.

I feel sorry for the disappointment with your new RAM, I had the same problem once very frustrating to find that no memory upgrade was successful.

Also when the new ram was installed it booted into windows fine, Then a few minutes later a blue error screen poped up, It also says at the bottom: Beginning dump of physical memory. Physical memory dump complete..............contact system adminstrator, etc.
