It's a Samsung 128gb ssd (HP oem) is running just as slow as the original hdd, also when I turn on the laptop, there's a black screen with blinking cursor for over a minute before the win10 logo comes on screen and windows loads just as slow as the old hdd. It has (unfortunately) AMD c50 1ghz cpu and 8gb ram installed so you see why I want an ssd drive to speed it up a little. I cloned the hard drive with a free cloning app bcoz samsung magician nor migrate will recognize the drive. I've tried a couple of suggestions posted elsewhere online with no help. The only things I haven't tried yet are backing up the original hdd to a cloud(one drive) and cloning from that as some said it fixed it, and the other is there's a firmware update for this drive (hp p/n 717353-001, samsung p/n mz7pd128hafv) but I haven't been able to find a firmware update unless I can find out which model HP computers use this ssd so I can update it with thru their website.
Has anyone had this problem with these Q57 with the amd c50?
Is it a problem with the ssd being oem instead of retail?

Problem is that it is a S-L-O-W laptop. Like netbook slow. The AMD c50 CPU is a big bottleneck. The SSD is no advantage here for speed until you get a faster machine. And you may need to stick to a less demanding OS to boot to get any performance out of this box.

Have to agree with the posts above.

The important 'score' to note in the link above is the single thread rating (264). My $10 Timex has a faster processor.Kent T likes this.
