    Hello,
I have a Presario X1000, and all of a sudden it does not want to boot, or if it boots the screen may go blank or flicker. I read on another forum that the LCD cable may be bad, so I replaced and and same issues. Is the next step replacing the video card? Or do I need to look at another piece of hardware. Anyone experiencing this problem.

    Thanks JR

Greetings gaspower - I had the same problem with my x1010 around two years ago. Had to send it to the States to have the video card replaced (almost $300). The guy who fixed it - Ken @ IKenFixIt - did a great job and said the reason they fail is Compaq cheated on the video card. The ATI "9200" is just an overclocked 9000 - and thus the cards fail/failed fairly often. Up to that point, my wife often had it sitting on the bed - with blocked fan vents - and it overheated and toasted it. Great system otherwise - I just booted mine and ran a Windows update. Good luck...
