    Compaq Presario additional memory problem

    My Laptop seems to eat up a lot of memory. Recently up the ram to 512. I am presently attempting to add an additional 512, however system will not recognize when booting up. What am i doing wrong??

    what happens if you put in just the single new 512MB? Does it recognize only partial?

    It doesn't boot up, I had to pull the battery to turn it off, bunch of clicking sounds..... I'm assuming I purchased a bad memory??
