Hello all.
I am currently having trouble with my laptop. Today, the system was running very slow and would not boot properly. I tried shutting down unneccesary programs as it booted to the main screeen, but with no luck. I saw that the CPU was running at 100% and figured it was something wrong with the AMD Athlon driver I had installed. Since my internet was not working, I resorted to format my computer completely and use the OS disc and driver disc that came with the laptop.
So far I have tried installing windows xp but its stuck on the "Installing Windows" screen and its been saying 34 minutes remaining. Its been stuck on this screen for an hour and the CD is not running. I know the OS disc is fine because I've used it in the past succesfully on other formats. I've also recently had it repaired as my hard drive pooped out. Does anyone have any experiences with this kind of problem?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Check your RAM, there is a program called MemTest86 that you can burn to a CD so you can test your memory on bootup before you enter your OS. Course you'll have to burn it at your friend's house or something.
Also, could just be your hard drive dying again. Is it making any clicking noises, or noises otherwise not normal during operation?
