    Hello all,

I recently purchased a Compaq V2030US and so far am very pleased. In a few months I am going to be moving to overseas and the laptop is going to become my main computer. I would like to upgrade the memory to 1GB. I know that the laptop takes PC2100, but does anyone have any recomendations? Also, the user guide that came with the laptop says that you have to use 1 SODIMM to get the 1GB is this true? I know there are two slots, so why would you have to use just 1 stick?

The only other thing I would like to uprade is the hard drive. I would prefer a 5400 or 7200 RPM drive as I can notice the difference. I contacted Compaq and they said they do not support it and that ther bios doesn't support it. Has anyone been able to upgrade the hard drive and if so with what?

    Thanks
    David

You can use any Windows XP CD and install the OS. But if you want the official recovery kit then follow the link...
    http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main
Enter your model number(eg V2030us) & select the model number for your system and look for the recovery kit in the drop down box. The product number should be 340180-002 for the restore discs.

Download the drivers for your system from here...
