Can anyone point me to a comparative review among the various speeds in the Core Duo line (the 1.83GHz, 2.0GHz, 2.16GHz compared to each other)? If not, can anybody with some knowledge tell me:

    1) How much noticeable performance loss will I experience if I go with the 1.83GHz (T2400), as opposed to the 2.0 GHz (T2500) Core Duo in my new laptop?
    2) Which model has the best price/performance ratio?

The following are the amounts they charge for upgrading to a new processor in this particular laptop:

    Intel® Core™ Solo Processor T1300 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB)
    Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB) [add $40.00]
    Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) [add $110.00]
    Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2.00GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) [add $270.00]
    Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2600 (2.16GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) [add $550.00]

Finally, I would like to know what people think about an upgrade to a 7200 RPM hard drive from a 5400 RPM hard drive. Do you think it's worth it for another $150? How much of a performance improvement will I notice?

    Thanks.

You shouldn't notice any difference between the core duos for normal internet/office use. You will notice the difference - but only slightly- when you stress the processor to the max.

Basically the difference will be measurable but not noticeable unless you use demanding applications.

Heres a link comparing the different core duos:

    Hope that helps.
