Just found this, finally after lots of searching and though it might be helpful in determining what CPU does what:
Intel Site Page w/Matrix of Core Duo CPU Family
It was really confusing to me trying to gleen what version of the cpu's could do what...now I have a handy reference.
I had been looking to see which versions supported hardware virtulization because I have one app (MS Photdraw 2000v2) that simply no longer runs in XPP and I have 100s of hours work on projects in it's file format. Sadly no other program can read the file format because when MS killed the program it never released the file definition so people would not be hung out to dry.
I kept it running but finally the patches killed it for good. But now I can run a just a WinXPP VM w/o any patches to at least open the files and save it to another format.
Anyway sorry to ramble...past my bed time...hope it's useful...

Well, they missed a few of the "OEM not really officially on our roadmap models"...

I'm just bored, hence why I did that above. -

thanks jim.
Question though. The table in my OP indicates that only the T5600 and above CPU's have VT but the more comprehensive table in your link indicate that as low as the T2400 has VT built-in...anyone know which is correct?
I would hate to blow $300 on a new CPU if I don't reall need to...of course the NX9420 is still waiting ona BIOS update to turn on VT. But that is a WHOLE 'nuttha story... -
who except intel actually knows but it seems like they do not even know whats going on
so i guess its luck of the draw?

HAHAHAHAHA.....I am coming around to that fact. Seems like even the vaious MFG's both component and system splatter so much misinformation that it is almost impossible to make a truly informed purchase decision anymore.
Gotta love the whole in the water they throw money into called marketing...
