Hi All,
I'm looking in to doing a RAM upgrade for a Dell Inspiron 700m.
Could you please point me to a place where I could buy a RAM (1GB) compatible with the above laptop?
or would any Laptop RAM work?
Thanks in advance.![]()

you can have up to 2gb
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Inspiron%20700m&pl=Dell&cat=RAM
Generic ram should work too. -
So if I'm correct it's maximum 1GB per slot?
I checked in newegg and they have the following pins and speeds
- 144-Pin SO-DIMM (8)
- 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM (48)
- 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM (119)
- 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM (11)
- DDR 266 (PC 2100) (9)
- DDR 333 (PC 2700) (26)
- DDR 400 (PC 3200) (13)
- DDR2 400 (PC2 3200) (1)
- DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) (22)
- DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) (59)
Which combination should I go for? or would any combination work? -
your ram is DDram so you can use PC2100, PC2700 or PC3200 (200 pin).
The best option is PC3200 but if expensive use the PC2700 instead. You can also mix between PC2100, PC2700 and PC3200. You can also mix the capacity: 256mb + 1gb for instanse
Check also the price in ebay -
Your system can only use DDR memory. So if you want to upgrade to 2gb of memory, you will have to buy 2 x 1gb of PC2700 memory. (You can use PC3200 if you desire, but it will clock down to Pc2700 speeds.)
Anything on this link is what you are looking for:

I would go with the Patriot memory, cause they are a division of Micron technologies. Micron usually has the highest performance memory cells.
