I have never paid attention to a full year of laptop market before, so when the Intel Montevina platform comes in May/June, as compared with previous years, how much will places like Dell usually drop prices on currents notebooks.

Not much as they will in a well planed manner exhaust their resources and keep what is left for warranty issues! That is an overall view if you mean can we get really cool computers for cheap? The answer is yes. A computer that cost $3,000 a year ago likely will cost under $1,500. Very expensive to be on the leading edge of technology! DeLL is about a month late on Leading edge technology not by accident, many MBA's working for them!
