Everyone here has been so helpfull, I decided to ask this here even though it is more appropriate in a desktop forum.

Space considerations force me to get another laptop rather than a desktop. But I got to thinking and wonder if I can get a desktop with all wireless peripherals {Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers}. They would have to have a range of 8-10 feet with possibly a table between them {if such line of sight problems exist}. I know there are wireless Mice and keyboards, but are there wireless Monitors? And how good do these wireless systems work?

    Thank You

Power: Its on the way, but not before a lonnnnggg time. http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/06/wildcharger-wireless-charger-get-the-hands-on-treatment/

Monitor: I don't know any laptop that can send, by itself, a video signal to a monitor although there are some wireless solutions like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812211002 but the adapter itself requires AC power.

    Keyboard and mouse: Bluetooth
Speakers: I think there is some Bluetooth speakers but you could also use uPnP or some routers have an audio feature, but only for music (Airport Express).

Except for the monitor and power, everything could go wireless, you just need the right devices and setup. Wireless = Conveniant and $$$. Wired = More reliable (depends on users) and cheaper.

With respect to the monitor, I essentially get the same thing now wirelessly when I use Remote Desktop to connect from my laptop, over the wireless router, to the headless desktop I use as an ersatz home server that's stuffed away at the back end of a big cabinet (the wifey "hates" seeing electronic "stuff" just sitting around :( ), so it is doable; however, I don't know if you'd really enjoy doing something fast-paced and graphics intensive, like gaming, that way - of course, I don't really know for sure how fast the graphics response would be on the latest hardware since the desktop is an old _Dell GX270 running a P4 with integrated graphics, and the laptop is an old VAIO running a 1.3GHz centrino with integrated graphics, and all running over a super-G wireless connection.
