I have a Z96js notebook that claims to support Component HD video but I don't know how to get it to work.

I'm trying to use a Svideo to Component adaptor to use my Samsung 32" HDTV

What I get is a black and white picture and that is all.

Can someone tell me how to enable YPbPr, I believe that is what it's called.
Is there something I need? a program mabe?

An HD signal cannot make it through an S-Video connection. If your laptop has a VGA out, then using that would be your best bet.

Are you using a generic (3rd party) adapter? One possible reason that your getting a black screen is that though the S-Video to component converter may change the format of the jacks, it doesn't change the format of the signal - it's still 480i. I'll bet that the Samsung TV that you have (at least in the component input you're using) doesn't support 480i, only 480p/720p/1080i. Check to see if one of the other component inputs supports 480i. This is NOT HD, though.

For full HD resolutions, you probably need the ATI converter cable. I think the x1600 is capable of using this, and ATI sometimes includes them with thier desktop cards, but my W3j didn't come with one either (I don't think...). This is the 9-pin version, but there is a 7-pin as well... I'm not sure which is the proper one for the x1600, but you may want to check with your reseller or Asus.
