I'm looking for a solution to connect my Acer 6930G to my CRT HDTV (720P). The problem is that the dvi-in is broken and my laptop lacks component out.

I tried a VGA-> component cable already but that doesn't work. Is there an easy way to go from VGA --> component ? Any chance powerstrip can force my 9600M to output component over vga ? There are some converters available but i'm not sure what i need.

    My requirments

    VGA in , Component Out
    720P 60Hz
    cheap, 50€ ?

I checked some other forums but i can't seem to find a decent converter. A cheap second hand scaler would be nice but i'm on a limited budget, 100€ for a scaler (one that supports pal, although the hdtv is ntsc).

lol, I would be interested to know this as well; too bad the VGA to component cable didn't work, that was my first hope for a solution.

I saw some cheap VGA to component boxes on eBay for 50 AUD (didn't check postage so not sure for total price, sometimes they jack it up).

My computer has VGA and HDMI, but my TV only has component/those RCA things as well..
