    Computer Wont Boot. PLEASE HELP

    I have an DELL INSPIRON 1500, and when it starts up, it shows "Dell" screen and then a blinking cursor. I went into boot menu and selected harddrive, but same thing happened. URGENT, please help

    So you are able to get into the BIOS and everything?
    If you are, then its probably your HDD, dunno if its hardware of software.

    1. Do you have F8 options?
    2. Boot from your OS disk and see if it recognizes the installation.

    It sound like you boot sector is messed up it boot drive and not load

    try that startup repair for vista or or if xp use the reocvery console and do fix mbr or fixboot maybe
