Hi, I am a bit confuse about DDR2 sodimm module. My notebook is Inspiron 6000 and I've opened the memory cover. There are 2x256 DDR2 533Samsung modules.
I check by cpu-z and it says that my ram is ddr2 533..so that's correct.
I wanna know ddr2 533=ddr2 pc4200-OR-ddr2 pc4300??? Some manufacturers list their products as ddr2 pc4200 and sometimes ddr2 pc4300? Which one is correct?
I wanna buy TwinMOS since it's one of the cheapest ddr2s in my country, maybe any incompability?

    I haven't even heard of pc4300. What's the difference between pc4300 and pc4200?

There is not much difference between the two. PC4200 memory runs about 8MHz slower than PC4300 memory. There is a bit of improvement of bandwidth available 4.3GB/s for the 4300 compared to the 4.2GB/s for the 4200. You should be fine with either of those memory.

Dont really know why they made such a change.

Right, of course I dont care about bandwidth difference between both :) I much care about compability issue between pc4200 and pc4300. I think it's just fine using pc4300 running dual channel in Inspiron 6000
