The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. well i dont kno if this would answer your question but Gddr3 is generally faster than other ddr2s which facilitates more banddwith and better performance along with a higher clock frequency im sure a search in the forum would give you adequate rsults as i remeber this being discussed in the forums earlier
sorry i cant be of much help as im not very knowlegebble on the subject
    cheers

So far most if not all 8600M GT with 512MB have the vram running at about 400mhz. The 8600M GT with 256MB is running at 700mhz. Some 256Mb versions also run slower. I think the Acer Gemstone is an example of this. If the 512MB version has GDDR2 or GDDR3 is a bit unclear but it is sure that it runs at 400mhz no matter what it is. I have not seen any 512MB version run at more then 400mhz so far.

Please word your posts so they are readable - I can barely understand what you wrote. If I didn't have beforehand knowledge of what this issue was about I would have had no clue what you were saying.

DDR3 isn't faster than DDR2. It uses a smaller manufacturing process so it can reach higher speeds and it has lower power consumption. DDR3 can reach speeds DDR2 can't.

how does asus' 8600 GT gddr3 and others gddr2

Asus' laptops have 8600 GT's which perform at gddr3

When others such as sager/compal etc... perform at gddr3
