I really want to upgrade my t8100 2.1ghz cpu but I dont know which ones are compatable. I ran pc wizard 08 and these are the specs it gave me about my socket and stuff.

    Support : Socket P (478)
    Mainboard Upgradeability :
    Socket/Slot : U2E1
    Upgrade interface : Socket 478
Supported Speed : 2100 MHz (or more)
    Supported Voltage : 3.3V

If someone could give me a list on the compatable processors that would be great.

You should have no problem upgrading to any santa rosa processor.
These ones will work in your system:
T7500, T7700, T7800, T8300, T9300, T9500 should work without any problems. The X9000 may work, but it has a higher wattage than the other cpu's so if you go with an X9000 your system will run hotter.

    Your welcome,
I would say the best cpu upgrade for you is going to be the T9300 at 2.5Ghz. Its a fairly inexpensive chip, and it is very powerful.
Check ebay, hardforum, notebook review marketplace, and the anandtech sales section to find a good deal on the chip.

Please note that you will also need to buy thermal compound. Every time you replace the processor, you should reapply the thermal compound.
You may also have to upgrade your system bios to ensure the best support for the new processor.
Go to the manufacturers website, and on HP's site they should have a bios revision for download. Burn that to a disc and follow the instructions, and that is all you need to do.
Please note you need to update the Bios before installing the new processor.
This will ensure the best chance that the cpu will be recognized without any problems.
