I just purchased a HP Compaq 8510w notebook running 32-bit Vista Business with NVIDIA Quadro FX570M. The notebook is very impressive. I also purchased a 30" HP LP3065 LCD monitor. The monitor has 3 DVI-D ports and runs at a resolution of 2560x1600. The 8510w does not have a DVI-D port, but the HP specifications state that its graphics adapter supports dual-link DVI-D via a HP docking station dual link DVI-D port. I'm using an HP basic dock station (product# EN488AA) that has support for dual link DVI-D.
I've installed all the latest Vista drivers from HP including the FLASHROM and LP3065 monitor driver. Vista recognizes the external LP3065 monitor and its 2560x1600 resolution, but the monitor sporadically display's only green, red, blue, and purple vertical bars.
When I connect the dock station via the dual link DVI-D cable to a Viewsonic monitor capable of only 1600x1200, the entire setup works correctly. When I connect a different computer with a DVI-D port using the dual link DVI-D cable to the LP3065, the setup works correctly.
I've exhausted HP active support... They have not been able to help. Does anyone have any experience with this setup or have any suggestions on how I might trouble shoot this and get it to work? Many thanks in advanceĀ
