Sorry if this post isn't in the correct topic as I wasn't too sure.

Basically, I want to watch some of the vids that are on my laptop on my tv. Would the quality greatly vary if I watch the vids after burning on DVD compared to connecting the laptop directly to the tv?

I have a dell laptop with a video connector and S-video TV-out connector, and a tv with the red, yellow and black connectors, and was wondering if the cable required to connect the laptop to it has a specific name?

    Is this correct:
    S-Video/Svideo to RCA Cable ?

    Cheers

That will work fine. As for quality, it won't be too bad, nothing great, but similar to watching it on the notebook LCD, just larger. However, reading text(on browser for example) will almost be impossible.

    Thanks for your reply.

So do I need to plug anything in the red or black connector? How would sound be transferred?

Those are for sound, which will be from your notebook instead of your TV. Unless you have composite cables for your TV as well as the output cable.

    Does your TV have S-Video?
