Most of the consumer laptops these days only offer glossy LCD screens. Although many enjoy the new technology, people in well-lit office environment are left with little choice but to strain their eyes. Here I would like to come up with a list of things that can add a matte surface to LCD screens.
(1) 3M Notebook Privacy Filter: it is ready to use, cost about $50.
(2) Non Glare Sheet Protectors (such as those from Avery): just cut it to your screen's size and put it on, you can also cut one that is slightly larger and slide it into the crevice between the LCD and the frame. It cost almost nothing. For 14in or larger screens you need to bear with the folding mark (hold it in a big book for a day it will be flat, although the mark remains visible).
Are there other widely available products?

Great post... I have a lot of people complain about the glossy screens for the glare... I like mine but do admit there is a glare on it sometimes. Just one thought on getting the crease out, place it between two pieces of paper (to protect it) and then place it between two heavy books for a day or two... I used to do that with papers that were wrinkled..
