    Hi everyone,

I'm considering to purchase a Thinkpad X1 Extrerme laptop with HIDEvolution, and I'm trying to decide the best repaste. HIDEvolution offers Grizzly Conductonaut, but I've read some posts saying it's risky and can lead to spillage and bricking the laptop.
I'd like to keep using my laptop for years to come, without worrying whether it's gonna fail the next day or not. Would you recommend to go forward with Grizzly Conductonaut, or request Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra, which supposedly is much more resistant to leakage?
I'd most likely use it daily and move it around / travel with it, also daily.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

Check with someone from HIDEvolution, but I recall they use a barrier of some type around the application and offer a warranty on their work, so if it does leak they would fix it.

In regards to the viscosity, I think Coolaboratory's Liquid Ultra has changed formulas in the past 2 or 3 years and is less viscous (runnier) than previous years.

Use Conductonaut. CLU's formula changed and they have quality control issues.

Thank you, indeed Ted from HIDEvolution recommends the same, that's what I will settle for.

Isn't CLP the orignal formula and is better than CLU?
You can also buy the premade vial and put it in your own syringe (an empty Conductonaut syringe would probably work best, it's not easy to find the right tube and tip, and pouring it into a syringe requires extreme care and management of the air pressure release).

10 grams for 7 bucks. Beats buying 5 grams for $40....

Or you could buy 100 grams for $100. But with the shipping, well...that's $125.

Might be better off buying your own crucible and buying raw gallium, tin and indium. And a blowtorch for blowing yourself up in the process.

    I've no experience with CLP.

I thought about going the East European galinstan route like you did, but after a few bad experiences with CLU this year, I decided to spend the extra money going with a known good product (Conductonaut), considering I don't repaste that often anyway and all my LM applications have lasted me years at stable temps if I don't decide to redo them otherwise.

@kniewi You can do it yourself, not that hard.

The X1E you can buy off Lenovo's site is cheaper by miles. I have the code to access the discounted site, PM me.

If you're buying asus, msi, acer. I would go through HIDevolution. The other brands you can find a much better deal off their manufacturer site.
