    Hi guys,

I'm wondering if there is any advantage at all to adding copper shims on top of heatpipes that would come into contact with the bottom plate of my laptop. Will this help disperse heat, hold it in, or neither? I've added little heatsink fins throughout the board on top of any chip I could get one on, I figured it couldn't hurt(after test fitting with molding clay to ensure they fit) but fins would never fit on the heatpipes so I just wondered if little copper shims would do anything. Please see attached photos and let me know your thoughts. This is a new MSI GE76 11th gen with RTX 3080. Thank you! [IMG] [IMG]

What material is the bottom plate on your laptop? If it's plastic then I would think it's for sure not going to do anything.

Yes it's just plastic, I don't know if it's coated with any type of thermal material, but yeah still just plastic. [IMG]

Would just be heat soak with no active means to pull heat off the shim
