will the release of core 2 duo affect currently laptop prices?
I'm getting a laptop soon(maybe today) and was wondering if I should wait a little longer. I heard the release date for the core 2 duo is august 27.
I'm assuming laptops with core duo processor will decrease considerably.

Not necessarily considerably. Core Duo desktop CPUs haven't dropped a lot in price (however, they aren't very popular) with the release of the desktop Core 2 Duo. The prices of Pentium Ms probably would drop considerably, just as how the prices of Pentium Ds have with the release of the Core 2 Duo.

so if I buy a laptop today(dell e1505), I shouldn't be worrying about price dropping within the next week?

someone mentioned it here in this forum. It could be just for gaming laptops and the core 2 duo for mainstream will come out sept.-oct.? Not really sure.

No. The Core 2 Duo's should be priced the same as the Core Duo's. You MAY get some people unloading Core Duo based laptops, but not likely. You'll more likely just get old stock for a while that's advertised as Core 2 Duo from unreputable dealers.
Count on prices being very similar in the future, unless you want to risk getting something from buy.com or whatnot.

Its just so darn hard deciding whether or not to purchase a laptop right now. Can't decide if I should buy one right now or wait another week or so and see if Dell drop its price. The laptop I'm thinking about getting is the e1505 1.83ghz, WMC, 1gb ram, 60hd, 256mb x1400 for 1040 after tax. Not really sure if its a good price.

Unless you can differentiate between speeds, go for Core Duo. The boosts you get will be not as apparent if you are coming from a P3 or P4. Core Duo will be still a powerful processor, and unless your going to use all that power, Core Duo is a better option. Dell wont be dropping prices as much(they had a massive sale a couple of weeks ago) as they are now losing money and need to make profits.

Depending what u do with it. If ur just a casual user then it should be fine. If u play games a lot, then I suggest u look into the acer 5672, comes with all that but a much more powerful gpu for 1080 bux.

Not really. Intel plans to keep producing the standard Core Duo for some time, it won't suddenly disappear off the market. The lower-end Core Duos (T2050, T2250) will have especially long lifetimes because they are cheap and provide good performance, nearly to the level of the T2300. More info can be found here:
