    What is the difference between Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and Intel Dual Core Processor?

    Maybe a stupid question, but i really dont know!!

    core 2 duos are higher clocked than core duos I belive. I think that the only difference. But I'm not positive.

    the CoreDuo is 32bit, the Core2Duo is 64bit.

    CoreDuo is Yonah based and Core2Duo is Merom based.

    Core Duo is the first line of Dual Cores while Core 2 Duo's are the second line. 2 As in 2nd line. :)

    Wikipedia has plenty of info about Intel processors.

    If you are not going to be using a 64bit operating system, go for the CoreDuo.

    The way OP asked Core 2 Duo vs Dual Core, They are both 64bit the 2nd is normally called a Pentium Dual Core. It has less L2 cache but the same chip. The Core Duo that everyone is talking about is a 32bit.

    The way you word the question, it sounds as though you think "Core 2 Duo" and "Dual Core" are two different products offered by Intel.

    In actuality, "Core 2 Duo" is a model, a line of CPUs offered by Intel. It is the successor to the "Core Duo" series that came before it. It's a somewhat common misconception that the "2" means "2 processors" when in actually it means it is a new model type.

    However, dual-core isn't a model. It is a standard industry term used to describe a CPU which has two processing units inside it. All Core 2 Duo CPUs, as well as Core Duo CPUs, are dual-core.

    ^^Yes but Intel does make a Pentium Dual Core, yes I know Dual Core could refer to any 2 core CPU but it is in the context asking about the Pentium Dual Core (so a model), a Core 2 Duo with Some L2 disabled.
