Hi, my notebook has an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (T7300, 2.0gHz). After about an hour, my processor temps. go up to around 40 and my hard drive temp. goes up to around 40 as well. I was just wondering, is this normal?

Also, should I consider purchasing a cooler? The notebook's brand new, so I don't think that there's any dust clogging up the heat sink or the fans.

For the CPU, 40*C is quite comfortable. Nothing to worry about there. :) If you said 60*C I'd suspect a clogged intake or defective fan or something but 40*C is normal.

For the HDD, 40*C is about the hottest you want it to be, but because of poor HDD cooling in most notebooks, it's quite normal, so again, nothing to worry about. 50*C on the hard drive is not so healthy for a HDD but 40*C is Ok.

Here is a link to T7300 specs http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLA45 Thermal Specification=100C. If it takes an hour to get to 40C what does it start at? 40C seems entirely too low how are you getting this temp? Are your fans running always? So you are running very cool you don't have to worry if your # is correct. Even 60C to 80C is safe.

40* s quite a low temp. for a processor. Mine runs at around 50* but its a 3-yrs old Presario .. so, meh
