I checked the frequency of my P7450 clocked at 2.13GHz but after observing the "frequency" in hardinfo (or something like that) it said 800MHz (and it I identifes itself as a PIII Xeon okay that may just be the P6 genes within it) is this true that a second gen Intel Core 2 Duo Penyrn supposedly clocked with a 1066MHz FSB is underlcoked to 800 or is this just as malinformed system info?

    Check with CPU-Z.

Are you asking if the FSB actually downclocks?
I think the answer is yes.

I've been looking at FSB values with CPU-Z for my P8600 and the bus stays at 1066MHz (4x 266MHz). The CPU downclocks when it is not in use though, are you sure that isn't what you saw? At idle, my P8600 is at 800MHz, but it clocks to the full 2.4GHz when needed.

Since I was on Ubuntu the hardinfo frequency read "800MHz" with 2 windows of Firefox and System monitor identifying ~13% of the power being pumped out of each core. I think it could be the identification issue as it being called a "Intel Pentium III Xeon" as the Core II is more or less P6 on steroids but the title name claims it is an "Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 2.13 GHz". Perhaps it is just noting the minimum frequency, and to comfirm the FSB is the full 1066MHz I will check CPUID's CPU-Z on my Windows 7 HP partition soon. If I recall the early non-Centrino 2s were clocked at 667/800 MHz for some odd reason.
PS: tijo I used your sig style to save space :D
