Here's the Scenario. I bought a refurbished Dell laptop(I know, dumb idea) that came with a Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5Ghz 667mhz FSB and 2MB L2 Cache. It had some errors(dead pixels, and screwy video Card NVidia 256 MB GeForce 8600m GT) Anyway, they said that they would replace it. After 3 1/2 weeks in the "Processing stage" They end up building me a brand new one, but instead of putting a T5250 in it, they put an Intel Pentium Dual Core T2330 (1.6 Ghz 533 mhz FSB and 1MB of L2 Cache). I called dell, and they swear up and down that the T2330 outperforms the T5250 in certain "Processes," All based upon the fact that it is .1Ghz faster, and that the T2330 has a 12x multiplier while the T5250 has only a 9x multiplier. He also said that "It[T2330] performs the processes at 12X speed and the 5250 does it at 9x." So it's faster. I don't trust these Dell support people who read everything off a screen. If you have any knowledge in this field, I would love to know, because I don't want to be short changed. Just from what I've read on other reviews, the T5250 is about 10% Faster than the T2330.

odd......
dont the names tell it all? how can the Pentium Dual Cores outperform the C2D's? the T2330 isnt top of the line or anything either. -
I'm pretty sure the T5250 is better than the T2330, it's not just a matter of speed.
The T2330 is a Pentium Dual Core, which is the lower version of the Core 2 duo. You'll notice the T5250 has twice the L2 cache of the T2330, 133MHz faster bus speed, and uses less power. You are not getting shortchanged at all, and the reviews do speak as one would expect.
Edit: Also consider the fact that Pentium Dual Cores are Intel's budget line of dual core processors, while the Core 2 Duos are the mainstream ones and are designed to outperform the pentiums. -
tell them NO! Gimme my T5250, Please.

You should try to claim your T5250 but be sure to check the fine print. Sometimes they resever themselves the right to give to you something in the same price range if they can't give you the one you chose.
Core 2 duo T5250 or Dual Core T2330
